Itinerary for a 10 day trip with 9 nights

st Day: Arrival at the airport in Marrakesh. You will be picked up by “Sahara Experience” at the airport and transferred to your riad. Your accommodation will be a suite with a bathroom, and breakfast is provided. Depending on your time of arrival, you may have personal time to explore Marrakech.

nd Day: You will be picked up from your hotel by your driver with SUV. You will travel over the picturesque High Atlas Mountains with any special photo stops, whenever you wish. After crossing the pass Tizi-n-Tichka, we take a detour to Telouet. Lunch in a restaurant is provided. You will have an opportunity to hike through the beautiful Ounila valley, which leads to Tamdaght. On the way, you will be picked up by your car, and head to Ait Benhaddou, which is a centuries old Kasbah, that has been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. You will have time to take a walk through the village. Your night stay will be in Skoura, at the Hotel Chez Talout, which has a pool!

rd Day: Your journey then continues from Skoura to El Kelaa. This segment is called the tour of the Kasbahs. Here the gorges of Dades and Todra are the highlights. This is considered by many as the most beautiful region of Morocco. The landscape has barren steppes with occasional camel thorn bushes. During the visit, there will suddenly appear an oasis, with rich green gardens, with red-brown Kasbahs and bright red roses. The Dades Valley is the center of production for rose water and oil, which is pressed from the millions of beautiful fragrant flowers, which you will encounter for sale in many places along the road. In Skoura you will have a chance to visit the Kasbah Amerhidil. Your tour continues from El Kelaa on to the Rose Valley. Here you will have an opportunity for two-hours of trekking. Lunch will be served in a Berber house. You will then continue off road, observing the past of nomadic dwellings, and tents and caves, in the Dades Gorge. You will spend the night at Auberge Chez Pierre.

th Day: Right after the Auberge begins the serpentine climb through breathtaking scenery to Msemrir. We then travel to Tamtatouchte, which is high above the Todra Georges. Here again you will have an opportunity for a two-hour trek. In Tamtatouchte, you will sleep in the amiable, simple Auberge Les Amis. You will have rooms with private baths, and excellent typical food.

th Day: You will pass through the Todra Gorges, with majestic towering mountain walls, and then on to Tinerhir. You will arrive at Mhamid, at the edge of the sand desert. This is a very unusual route, which is rarely driven by tourists. You then go on to Iknioun, Nekob, and past the impressive twin peaks Bab n’Ali in the stunning mountains of the Jebel Sarho. This region is full of contrasts and boasts mystical mesas, eroded rocky mountains, sharp jagged rocks, and deep gorges and impressive valleys. Lunch will be in Nekob. In the evening, we arrive at Zagora, which is the gateway to the great sand desert. You will spend the night at a unique riad, with beautiful palm gardens.

th Day: The morning departure heads to Mhamid, where your camels are waiting! Here you go by camel, to observe the vastness of the Sahara. After about three hours of travel, we have a lunch break. In the afternoon there is another 3 hour ride. In the evening you will stay in a camp built at Sidi Naji, a special dinner will be provided there.

thDay: After breakfast, we continue with our camels. We cross the Hammada (stone desert) and arrive by noon at a nomad well. We then go on to the small dunes of Ez-Zahar. Here we stay and have lunch. We then proceed by camel through the vast desert, have our dinner, and an overnight stay at Bougaren.

th Day: More on camel through the vast desert, lunch break, overnight stay at Bougaren.

th Day: On our last day in the desert, we ride again on our camels, and arrive in the evening at the extensive dunes of Erg Chegaga. There we will sleep in a permanent bivouac, in comfortable nomad tents, complete with showers and toilets.

th Day: From Chegaga you will be picked up by your SUV, and driven back to Marakesh. Here ends the tour.
